As of 4 p.m. on the 22nd, the SNS channel where Jang Dong-ju had been sharing updates only displays the message, "Sorry. This page isn't available." The SNS channel explained, "The L.I.N.C you clicked may be broken or the page may have been removed."
The disappearance of Jang Dong-ju's social media is significant in that it came after he released a video of impulsive behavior that day. That day Jang Dong-ju said, "Promises to myself that I have broken thousands of times: promises to family, friends, acquaintances and colleagues that I could not keep; the last promise I couldn't keep that I made with my father, staking my little finger. This little finger that failed to keep so many promises, me. I hated it and cut it off for no reason, and I'll use this crisis as an opportunity to find my original self from two years ago. Pull yourself together. This is the last chance. There's nowhere lower to go now" and harmed his body.
Jang Dong-ju uploaded another video along with the message, "I'm not gonna go back. never again. wait for me. i'll be back on top.(나는 절대 다시 돌아가지 않아. 기다려줘요. 다시 정상에 오를게요)" which raised concern.
Jang Dong-ju said, "I sincerely apologize for posting the video. This was not meant to threaten anyone or to suggest a bad choice; it was a video I posted to engrave a pledge about my own misguided life into my brain," and added, "I am currently receiving help for treatment and recovery with my family and pulling myself together. I sincerely apologize for causing anxiety and worry, and I am truly grateful to everyone who will pray for me."
It is unclear whether the disappearance of the SNS was because Jang Dong-ju himself deleted the account or because Instagram suspended it for posting a provocative or shocking video.
In January, after revealing that his phone had been hacked and he had been extorted, Jang Dong-ju announced his retirement on the 15th, saying, "I plan to lay down my life as actor Jang Dong-ju as of today. Although I will leave the stage, I will never forget the feelings you have sent me. Thank you sincerely for loving actor Jang Dong-ju until now."
Later, Jang Dong-ju said he had already repaid 3 billion won but still owed 800 million won, and pleaded, "What I want to ask creditors is that I am trying to repay through my own efforts, but if you continue to attack me it will become harder. I fully understand that you are angry because repayments are delayed, but please help a little."
