Actor Lee Se-hee transformed into a "clear-eyed glare" and unleashed her acting potential.
Lee Se-hee is playing Yoon Ji-hyo, a leading domestic top star regarded as "everyone's wannabe," in the SBS Friday-Saturday drama My Royal Nemesis (directed by Han Tae-seop, written by Kang Hyun-joo).
In the drama, Yoon Ji-hyo is a figure who has captured public affection with her glamorous visuals, but at the same time she reveals a temperament more sensitive than anyone when faced with someone who threatens her position. After imprinting the character's presence in the first and second episodes with crisp line delivery and a bubbly "clear-eyed glare" persona, Lee Se-hee in the recently aired third episode further expanded her acting range by fully exposing the anxiety and malice hidden behind the top star's facade.
Yoon Ji-hyo suffered humiliation after ultimately failing to secure the launch model spot for the BIOJAY One-Shot Line Dynasty, which formed a competitive structure with Shin Se-ri (Lim Ji-yeon). Feeling a sense of crisis as her position began to wobble, Yoon Ji-hyo even engaged in a slap fight with Shin Se-ri after a tense standoff. Lee Se-hee raised immersion by portraying the toppled pride of a top star with a wavering gaze and an agitated tone.
In particular, she revealed her bare face by saying, "People mistake me for a thousand years of innocence and fragility, but do you know how I rose to this position? I stepped on kids like you who have no sense of their place and climbed up," delivering it coldly. Lee Se-hee, with eyes chilled into a stare, mouthed and swallowed the line and powerfully expressed the venomous side hidden behind the innocent image.
Through My Royal Nemesis, Lee Se-hee achieved perfect synchronization with Yoon Ji-hyo and once again demonstrated flawless character embodiment. She conveys an irresistible charm by realistically portraying the human anxieties and inferiority feelings of a top star trying to hold on to the pinnacle. The "frenemy chemistry" with Lim Ji-yeon is also reported to be acting as an element that heightens the drama's enjoyment. Lee Se-hee maximized dramatic synergy by maintaining a taut balance with solid acting.
