Comedian Kim Byoung-man offered a sincere apology and promised to prevent a recurrence regarding his tardiness at an official event.
On the 20th, a press conference for TV CHOSUN's global survival show "Survival King 2" was held at TV CHOSUN's Gasan-dong studio in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by CP Lee Seung-hoon, PD Yoon Jong-ho, Kim Byoung-man, Kim Jong Kook, Yuk Jun-seo and The Boyz's Younghoon.
The press conference was originally scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., but it did not start until 10:20 a.m. after Kim Byoung-man arrived late and was delayed taking photos to be provided to the press. In particular, Kim Byoung-man had previously been late to the "Himalaya expedition" launching ceremony, and his consecutive tardiness at official events drew frowns.
What caused more concern was Kim Byoung-man's attitude. Although his tardiness delayed the event, he did not offer a single apology. Some criticized his professional discipline and expressed disappointment.
OSEN confirmed that Kim Byoung-man arrived at the press conference venue at 10:05 a.m. on the day of the event. Kim Byoung-man, who lives on Jeju Island, came up on the 19th, spent a day in Uijeongbu and departed with agency officials at 8:30 a.m. on the 20th. However, the roads were blocked due to rainy weather, and although he had expected to arrive by 9:30 a.m., he did not arrive until 10:05 a.m.
An additional 15 minutes were spent taking the photos to be provided. Five minutes for Kim Byoung-man's tardiness plus 15 minutes for photo shooting meant the event could not proceed until 10:20 a.m., which was the full explanation for his tardiness.
It was only a day later that Kim Byoung-man recognized the seriousness of the situation and posted an apology on his social media. Kim Byoung-man said, "I came up from Jeju on the 10th to attend the 'Survival King 2' press conference. I prepared for the conference and departed for the morning schedule that day, but I failed to consider the sudden change in weather and congestion on rainy roads."
Kim Byoung-man bowed his head and said, "I made the reporters who filled the seats wait, and as a result my mistake caused the event schedule to be delayed. I sincerely apologize. Going forward, I will be more careful in adjusting schedules and will take every precaution. I apologize once again to everyone who experienced inconvenience and difficulty because of me."
Meanwhile, TV CHOSUN's "Survival King 2", which features Kim Byoung-man, premiered at 10 p.m. on the 20th. Four countries — Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia — sent their top survival competitors to a fierce survival showdown in the jungles of Hualien, Taiwan, and with UDT veteran Yuk Jun-seo's performance, Korea's "team Kim Byoung-man" won the first mission and took the lead.
