Oh My Girl member Hyojung returns with a new song filled with deeper musical capabilities and her autobiographical story.
Hyojung will release the digital single Purple Note at 6 p.m. today (21st) on various music sites and begin her full-fledged solo activities.
This new release is a solo single presented about 1 year and 5 months after the special single Christmas Night Train, released on Dec. 2024. A total of three tracks showcasing Hyojung's distinct color are included, including the title track To my little youth, Look Around, and To my little youth (Inst.).
The unveiling title track To my little youth is a pop-rock song in which refreshing band sounds and Hyojung's bright, crisp vocals create a perfect harmony. Through soaring melodies and hopeful lyrics, it offers warm courage and consolation that help people move forward again even during difficult and tiring moments.
The music video evokes emotion with scenes that alternate between Choi Hyojung as a high school student nurturing her dream of becoming a singer and Hyojung in the present who has finally realized that dream. Hyojung will fully portray the radiant narrative of youth with her delicate yet fresh visuals.
The included track Look Around is an impressive ballad with acoustic-based sounds and conversational lyrics; Hyojung's delicate, warm tone makes listeners reflect on the meaning of the precious people beside them and leaves a gentle aftertaste.
In particular, the digital single Purple Note gains extra significance from the fact that it was inspired by the name of the band club Hyojung actually sang in during high school. It conveys the message that the process of continuing to move forward, even if not perfect, is meaningful growth, and it sends a warm encouragement to all youths doing their best in their own places.
Above all, Hyojung's direct participation in writing and composing all the tracks heightens the authenticity, and by taking on a new musical challenge with a band sound for the first time since her debut, she is expected to fully show her growth as a solo artist.
