Oh My Girl member Hyojung has returned with a refreshing band sound.
Hyojung released the full digital single Purple Note and its music video on various streaming platforms at 6 p.m. on the 21st.
This solo single, released about 1 year and 5 months after the special single Christmas Night Train, released in Dec. 2024, candidly captures Hyojung's autobiographical story and proves her deeper musical ability and sensitivity.
Hyojung's new digital single Purple Note adds a special touch by taking its name from the band club she actually sang in during high school. Though not perfect and sometimes clumsy, the process of continuing to move forward itself carries a warm message that "growth" is already meaningful. Through this album, Hyojung sends sincere support to all young people in the world who, rather than comparing themselves to others, move forward at their own pace from their own places.
The title track "To my little youth" is a pop-rock song in which a refreshing band sound and Hyojung's bright, crisp vocals form a perfect harmony. Over a melody that swells the heart just by listening, the hopeful lyrics that give the courage to get up and try again even in hard and tiring moments are impressive. In particular, Hyojung raised the song's authenticity by participating directly in the lyrics and composition.
I want to convey this to my little youth, will you tell it / Even if you fall, get up and try running again / Trust me and run / It's okay to stop when you're out of breath / The glorious beginning of now
The released music video delivers a touching immersion as it alternates between "Choi Hyojung" in high school, when she was nurturing her dream of becoming a singer, and the current "Hyojung" who finally achieved that dream. The refreshing atmosphere set against the fresh school backdrop amplifies the song's swelling emotion, and Hyojung's uniquely pure and fresh visuals capture a dazzling page of youth like a coming-of-age film.
As Oh My Girl's dependable leader and main vocalist who has always spread positive energy to the public, Hyojung has solidified her position as a singer-songwriter with deep sensitivity through this single. Her gentle consolation to her past self who ran tirelessly toward her dream, and to all youths who are living brilliant todays at their own pace even at this moment, leaves a deep aftertaste.
