The group BTS will return to the stage of the American Music Awards (American Music Awards, hereinafter AMA). It will be their first in-person attendance in five years, and the world is focused on whether they will win the top award for the second time overall.
On the 20th (local time), according to an AMA announcement, BTS has confirmed attendance at the awards ceremony to be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, U.S., at 5 p.m. on the 25th. It will be about five years since they last appeared in person at the AMA after becoming the first Korean artist to win the top award in 2021.
BTS will once again challenge for the highest honor, the top award, at this ceremony. They were named a nominee in the Artist of the Year category, equivalent to the top award, standing alongside major global pop stars leading the worldwide pop market such as Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga and Bad Bunny. Having previously won the category in 2021 as the first Asian artist to do so, which marked a milestone in world music history, intense attention is focused on whether they will reclaim the title this time.
BTS was also named in a total of three categories, including Best Male K-Pop Artist and Song of the Summer. In particular, the title track SWIM from their fifth full-length album Arirang, nominated for Song of the Summer, showed overwhelming power by being nominated in less than a month (April 14) after its release on March 20, surprising many.
So far BTS has collected a total of 12 trophies at the AMA across group and solo categories. Starting with their first trophy in 2018 as Favorite Social Artist, they swept that category for three consecutive years, and set major records in categories such as Tour of the Year and Favorite Duo or Group. In particular, they topped the pop duo/group category for four consecutive years, becoming the most-awarded artist in that category. In 2022 they became the inaugural winner of Favorite K-Pop Artist, and in 2025 member RM carried on the baton in that category as a solo artist.
BTS will hold BTS WORLD TOUR 'ARIRANG' IN LAS VEGAS at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for four days on the 23rd–24th and 27th–28th, meeting fans from around the world. Especially before and after the performances, an advanced city-linked project, BTS THE CITY ARIRANG - LAS VEGAS, will be conducted through full collaboration with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
