Fifties Professionals director Han Dong-hwa commented on taking on the successor to Perfect Crown, which ended with high buzz and ratings but sparked controversy over historical distortion.
On the 21st, at MBC in Sangam, Mapo District, Seoul, the production press conference for the new Friday-Saturday drama Fifties Professionals was held. Director Han Dong-hwa and actors Shin Ha Kyun, Oh Jung-se, Heo Sung-tae, Kim Shin-rock, and Lee Hak-ju attended the press conference and talked.
Fifties Professionals depicts three men who seemed ordinary but still had some edge being set in motion again by fate; although beaten by the world and physically rusted, their loyalty and instincts remain, promising a salty action comedy about true pros who have lived 50% of their lives.
Fifties Professionals is being released as the successor to Perfect Crown, which ended on the 16th with high buzz and ratings. However, Perfect Crown has been suffering from controversy over historical distortion within the work before it ended.
When asked about the pressure of following the successor to Daegunbuin and expectations about ratings, director Han Dong-hwa said, We had very strong ratings for the previous work, and there were many issues, and added, I think we have our own charm. We tried to show that part, and among many dramas, our drama has its own characters and color, so I hope people will focus on that part.
Kim Shin-rock also expressed confident expectations, saying, I read the script and was excited; the scenes of these three men in their 50s are pleasant and stress-free. It feels like a fun weekend evening to heal after work, restore energy, laugh, have conversations, and drink.
Meanwhile, MBC's new drama Fifties Professionals will premiere on the 22nd at 9:50 p.m.
