Actor Lee Min-gi's side issued an official statement regarding the recently conducted tax audit and clearly drew a line against allegations of intentional tax evasion.
On the 20th, Lee Min-gi's agency, Sangyoung ENT, bowed its head and, in an official press release, said, "First, we deeply apologize for causing concern to many people because of this matter," and then disclosed the full details of the tax audit results.
The agency said, "Since his debut, Lee Min-gi has always complied with tax laws and faithfully fulfilled his tax obligations," and explained, "During the recent tax audit process, he transparently submitted relevant documents and cooperated sincerely with the investigation."
According to the agency, the imposed additional tax was not due to intentional tax avoidance but arose from differences in interpretation of the tax law. Sangyoung ENT said, "The results of this tax audit stem from differences in interpretation of tax law between the tax authorities and our company regarding the standards for expense treatment in corporate operations," and emphasized, "We clearly state that there was no intentional omission of income or fraudulent methods of evasion."
The agency added that it fully accepted the National Tax Service's findings and promptly completed the necessary measures, saying, "We respect the National Tax Service's investigation results, and the imposed additional tax was paid without delay in accordance with the relevant procedures."
Finally, the agency promised to prevent recurrence, saying, "We will more closely inspect our tax and accounting management systems to ensure similar incidents do not occur in the future," and, "We will continue to comply with laws and principles and faithfully fulfill our tax obligations."
Earlier, a media outlet reported that Lee Min-gi had undergone a rigorous tax audit by the National Tax Service.
