The performance of rapper Rich Iggy at 'RAPBEAT 2026,' which was embroiled in controversy over allegations that he mocked the late President Roh Moo-hyun, has been finally canceled.
Organizers of the major domestic hip-hop festival 'RAPBEAT 2026' announced on the 20th through official channels that the performances by Rich Iggy and GGM Kimbo have been canceled.
'RAPBEAT 2026' said, "The artist 'Rich Iggy & GGM Kimbo,' who had been included in the lineup for June 21, has had their appearance at this festival finally canceled," the festival said in an official statement. Accordingly, TRADE L will newly join to enhance the completeness of the performance.
Rich Iggy earlier sparked controversy for lyrics and event planning that appeared to mock the late President Roh Moo-hyun. He scheduled a performance on the 17th anniversary of Roh Moo-hyun's death and set a ticket price that evoked the date of death (52,300 won), prompting criticism that the event plan insulted the deceased.
Previously, the backlash was greater because Rich Iggy had repeatedly mentioned the late President Roh by name or used inappropriate expressions that suggested the manner of his death.
When controversy arose, Rich Iggy canceled the performance and posted a handwritten apology on his social media. He said, "I sincerely apologize to everyone harmed by my wrongdoing and will reflect deeply," and added, "From my debut to recently, through my music and lyrics I have mocked and demeaned the deceased and engaged in behavior and speech that would make the public and bereaved family members frown, all for fame," conveying his remorse.
