tvN 'You Quiz on the Block' returns to living rooms on Wednesday with a lineup full of laughter, tears and astonishing narratives.
The 344th episode of tvN 'You Quiz on the Block,' airing today (20th) at 8:45 p.m., is themed "which cloud will bring rain," and features singer-actor Bi (Jung Jihoon), actress Gong Seung-yeon, Yoo Seung-mok and graduate student Jeong Tae-woong, who found the final puzzle of a Unified Silla artifact, each sharing candid life stories of quietly persevering in their own places.
First, the long-awaited reunion of Ssukssuri's Yoo Doo-ryeong (Yoo Jae-seok) and Bi-ryong (Bi) after six years is set to provoke laughter from the start. Bi recounts behind-the-scenes stories from the original series Bloodhounds 2, in which he took on his first-ever villain role 28 years after his debut, revealing how he risked his discs and took painkillers to complete a boxing action scene to meet the director's demand. Especially, a story is teased in which his immersion in the villain role backfired when his wife Kim Tae-hee scolded him, saying, "Why are your eyes like that?", adding to the laughs. He also generously shares the love story that captured "Tae-ppeu" Kim Tae-hee, real-life parenting behind-the-scenes, and his desperate and tearful life of passion, including losing his mother in childhood and later experiencing a house fire that forced him to live apart from his family.
Meanwhile, actress Gong Seung-yeon, who is enjoying the peak of her career 15 years after her debut, draws attention with a weighty confession befitting a K-first daughter. Cast on the street at 13, she spent seven years as an SM trainee, endured countless audition rejections after switching to acting and survived financial hardship during long gaps in work; these hidden stories are fully revealed. In particular, the strong sisterly bond with her younger sister, TWICE's Jeongyeon, is expected to deliver a touching emotional moment. Gong Seung-yeon recalls that when Jeongyeon stopped activities in the past, she was the first to notice abnormal symptoms and took her to the hospital, confessing, "I was worried about leaving her alone, so I reached out first and asked her to live with me." Added to this is her sister Jeongyeon's tearful interview saying, "I'm thankful because she's my real older sister," which will add deep resonance to viewers at home.
After 36 years of long waiting, distinguished actor Yoo Seung-mok, who finally held a Baeksang Arts Awards trophy, unveils his moving acting life. He, who won best supporting actor for the drama The Dream Life of Mr. Kim, candidly shares behind-the-scenes of his acceptance speech that drew attention in the city—"I won't get cocky just because I got an award, so keep calling me"—and recounts his daughters' lively, realistic advice on the day of the ceremony. Beginning on the theater stage in 1990, he reveals his connection with director Bong Joon-ho, and shares stories from his theater troupe, including eloping with his wife despite his mother-in-law's opposition and starting out together in a one-room flat. Especially, even during hard unknown years when he worked telemarketing to get by, he said he "never once said it was hard," expressing heartfelt gratitude to his wife, and it is said he was moved to tears by his wife's letter and his daughters' messages.
Finally, the graduate student Jeong Tae-woong, called a "real-life Indiana Jones," is expected to captivate viewers with his astonishing journey. While preparing his thesis, with a singular sharp eye he found the final puzzle piece of the masterpiece "Gumgang yeoksa statue" from the Unified Silla period a thousand years ago, and tells a miraculous story. He searched for temple ruins not even on maps, roamed the mountains alone, and personally transported an artifact weighing as much as 8kg without damage; the vivid behind-the-scenes stories and on-site revisit will provide a thrilling catharsis.
