Ryu Ji-hwan PD of 'Seunim and guests' asked viewers to look forward to the "half-century chemistry" that Venerable Beopryun and ALLDAY PROJECT's Woo-chan will show.
On the 20th, Ryu Ji-hwan PD, who directed SBS's 'Beopryun Road - Seunim and guests,' shared his thoughts on finishing the first broadcast in an interview with OSEN.
That day, Ryu Ji-hwan PD emphasized that Venerable Beopryun is the center and core of this project when talking about the cast, which boasts a glamorous lineup.
He went on to say, "In the case of Ro Hong-chul, he simply handles all the entertainment elements, like a navigator. I was curious about what kind of synergy would arise between him and the seunim from the contrasting tensions and from his words and thoughts, which become cooler as he ages."
Ryu Ji-hwan PD explained about Lee Sang-yoon, who reunited with Venerable Beopryun, "He is always intellectual and has deep, three-dimensional thoughts, so positionally I expected him to richly understand and reflect on the seunim's message. That was achieved during filming, too."
He added, "I cast Lee Joo-been out of curiosity from a director's perspective: what would someone who usually seems like a perfect, cool woman look like on such a humble backpacking trip? I was very moved by her unadorned, sincere appearance during filming."
Regarding Lee Ki Taek, who has recently been receiving many love calls in the entertainment world, Ryu PD said, "I had been keeping an eye on him; he seems to have so much potential to succeed both as an actor and in variety shows that I recruited him without looking back. I heard he is joining '2 Days & 1 Night'; I hope he films in good health," he added in support.
Ryu PD also described, "As for Woo-chan, there's nothing more to say — he is these days' top young gun," and called him "an icon symbolizing the Gen Z generation."
He especially conveyed, "The chemistry between the seunim, who was born around the end of the Korean War, and Woo-chan, who is more than half a century younger, is something I will keep as a winning shot for the latter half," raising expectations for future 'Seunim and guests' broadcasts.
Ryu Ji-hwan PD said about upcoming viewing points, "In India, a country where various religions, languages, values and its 1.4 billion people are well mixed, the viewing point will be the unimaginable chemistries between the seunim and guests who each have different charms and thoughts," and added, "The highlight that wasn't in episode 1 is the 1:1 instant Q&A, which will be revealed from the next episode."
Finally, Ryu PD added, "In addition, there are still many beautiful and majestic landscapes, paintings and people's appearances in India that you couldn't see on variety shows before, so I hope you'll watch."
Meanwhile, SBS's 'Beopryun Road - Seunim and guests' airs every Tuesday at 9 p.m.
