Comedian Kim Mi-ryeo recalled the toughest times.
On the 19th Kim Mi-ryeo appeared on the YouTube channel Moon Cheon-sik's I will calculate for you, telling the story of how she became a comedian and her life after success.
Kim Mi-ryeo confessed, "There was jealousy and envy during the (corner) 'samo-nim'; there were rumors of exclusion." She said she had heard such things from a member of the makeup team. Kim Mi-ryeo gained great popularity playing the madam in MBC comedy program Gag-ya's corner 'samo-nim'.
She also cited the time after 'samo-nim' succeeded—'after doing well'—as the hardest time. She recalled, "I didn't make as much money as I thought. (The manager) seems to have embezzled a lot. There were many sponsored ads, but I had no pay. I believed all of that. I went to the bank. Knowing it was zero anyway, I kept putting my passbook in and taking it out," recalling the past and evoking sympathy.
She continued, "That was what the managers did. I became mentally devastated for a long time," and cautiously prefaced, "I have never revealed this on a broadcast," before showing her wrist to Moon Cheon-sik. There were heartbreaking marks left. The subtitle read 'Did Kim Mi-ryeo attempt an extreme act?' and Moon Cheon-sik reacted in disbelief, saying, "Kim Mi-ryeo?"
Kim Mi-ryeo calmly recounted, "The next day was recording, and colleague Gyeong-bun slept with earplugs in. We barely woke her and went to the hospital. She said it felt like she had caught 10 mackerel," describing the situation where blood stains were everywhere.
At the time Kim Mi-ryeo was even doing a musical performance in the original role. Kim Mi-ryeo said, "I had wrapped a towel around my wrist. Everyone noticed, but no one acknowledged it. It was when I was 27 or 28," she said.
Meanwhile, Kim Mi-ryeo married actor Jung Seong-yun in 2013 and has two children.
