Actor Byeon Woo-seok made his first public appearance after apologizing for controversies over historical distortion and northeastern project claims related to Perfect Crown.
Byeon Woo-seok attended the production presentation for the Netflix variety show Yu Jae-seok Camp at the JW Marriott Dongdaemun in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the 19th.
Byeon Woo-seok's public appearance came after the end of the MBC Friday-Saturday drama Perfect Crown and was his first since apologizing for the historical distortion. Perfect Crown ended on the 16th after achieving its highest-ever rating (13.8%, Nielsen Korea nationwide).
However, criticism continued that history was distorted in episode 11 when at the coronation of Prince Ian (Byeon Woo-seok) the officials chanted the vassal state's phrase "chense" instead of the independent state's symbol "manse," and the king wore the ancient Chinese subject's nine-lamellar crown rather than the ten-lamellar crown used by the emperor of the independent state.
Byeon Woo-seok apologized, saying, "I lacked consideration for what the historical context and meaning contained in the work were and how they could be received by viewers," and added, "As an actor, I have again deeply realized that I need an attitude of more responsibly examining and reflecting not only on acting but also on the message and context of a work. I will become an actor who approaches works with more caution and depth going forward."

Byeon Woo-seok said, "I met Yu Jae-seok several times while doing variety shows and it was pleasant. I had thought I wanted to try it once, and because fans like my daily life and a show that can show that side of me felt like Yu Jae-seok Camp, I was both scared and excited but decided to take on the challenge."
Byeon Woo-seok added, "The way I want to live my life is to do my best in every moment. I did my best on Yu Jae-seok Camp as well, and I hope people view it favorably. I truly feel sorry about the historical distortion controversy."
