Actress Go So-young attracted attention by confessing that she dated Jang Dongkeon before marriage.
On the 19th, a video titled "Go So-young Jang Dongkeon couple's epic story: said they dated in their 20s without anyone knowing" was posted on the YouTube channel Go So-young.
That day the producer asked Go So-young, "You dated once before (with Jang Dongkeon), right?" Startled, Go So-young said, "How did you know?" and, flustered, confessed, "We were really friends, and after 'Yeonpungyeonga' ended I developed romantic feelings so we met briefly, but we were both so busy."
She continued, "I thought I might even lose the friendship at this rate, so we went back to being just male friends. We contacted each other sometimes, and when we did there was always some affection. It wasn't 'I can't forget him.' And each of us probably dated others, I guess."
Go So-young recalled, "As time passed I was emotionally exhausted and my husband was having a hard time because his film kept getting delayed. I was in my mid-30s thinking, 'If I don't get married now I'll be in trouble.'"
She added, "I thought this friend was successful and probably not thinking about marriage, but there was pressure from home and he said he wanted to get married. Then we met again after a long time in Los Angeles, U.S. By chance we happened to be wearing the same T-shirt," she recalled, drawing surprise.
She went on, "It didn't go to dating right away, but I was unsettled. I even thought it was pointless to meet. Then we started dating over the phone," saying, "At that time my husband was staying abroad for filming, so the phone bill was several hundred thousand won."
Later Go So-young said, "Then he came to Korea and I found our lifestyles didn't match. I thought it wouldn't work, so I suggested we go back to being friends and he changed his (lifestyle). He adjusted. He must have been serious. We dated like that and got married after two years."
Meanwhile, Go So-young debuted in 1992 with the drama "Tomorrow Is Love" and married actor Jang Dongkeon in 2010; they have one son and one daughter.
