A song that had existed only in the type of a novel sprang into reality wearing singer Kyungseo's timbre.
The OST "Mal Dae신" from the novel 'One Fine Escape,' on which Kyungseo participated as a vocalist, was abruptly released on various online music sites on the 17th.
This single is a special project that realized in an actual recording the original song of "Dorothy," the protagonist and aspiring singer-songwriter in the novel by Na Sang-cheon, a former K-pop planner. The lyrics, which had been confined to the pages of the book, gained life when they met a lyrical melody and Kyungseo's distinctive emotional vocals. The melodic idea that had only stimulated readers' imaginations has been born as an actual "ear candy" recording, drawing attention inside and outside the culture scene.
The original novel's momentum is as fierce as the recording's. One Fine Escape achieved the feat of going into its second printing just 12 hours after release on April 22 as word of mouth spread. It has since quickly reached a fourth printing, firmly earning a spot on the bestseller list.
The work depicts the journeys of four characters, each carrying different stories, against the 800 km backdrop of the Camino de Santiago in Spain. The protagonists are Kimse, a middle-aged chef who lost his wife and started a new life as a cook; Dorothy, an aspiring singer who tasted the bitterness of failing auditions; Roger, a YouTuber carrying out subscriber missions; and Jun-sang, a 21-year-old who fled onto the road carrying a heavy secret. Over 33 days walking the same route, they confront the wounds they have each been running from and warmly undergo healing and change.
In particular, the novel was written based on vivid experiences Na Sang-cheon, a K-pop planner who also works as a playwright and novelist, gained by completing the Camino de Santiago in 2023 and 2024.
Na Sang-cheon's activities do not end here. Alongside the novel's publication, he is leading a major project by developing a musical adaptation, "Caminante," in parallel. After successfully completing a number showcase in February, "Caminante" has set sail aiming for an official run in the second half of next year.
