"national MC" Yu Jae-seok mentioned the recent attitude controversy involving junior Yang Sang-guk and offered comfort.
On the 16th, the MBC variety show Hangout With Yoo aired an episode titled "War of Money in Changwon." That day, regular members Yu Jae-seok, Haha, Joo Woo-jae, Heo Kyunghwan, Yang Sang-guk, and new face Lee Seon-min appeared and brought great delight.
At the recording, which took place immediately after Yang Sang-guk's "attitude controversy" flared up, Yang Sang-guk, upon seeing Yu Jae-seok, ran up warmly saying, "Move aside! Let me try giving you a hug," and Yu Jae-seok worried from the opening, "Hey Sang-guk, you've lost a lot of weight. Are you okay?" Haha also looked on saying, "Sang-guk, you were really shocked, right?"
Yang Sang-guk confessed, "I almost went back down to my hometown," and Yu Jae-seok said, "Even the people in your hometown had somewhat changed their minds," while Heo Kyunghwan said, "In Jinyoung's case they unfurled and then tied up the placard again," drawing laughter.
Earlier, Yang Sang-guk had claimed on "Pingeugo" that "men from Gyeongsang Province don't escort women home" in response to Yu Jae-seok's wish for a partner's safe return home, and on tvN's Amazing Saturday he received criticism for somewhat threatening behavior toward Kim Haejun. Because of his usually introverted personality, he had shown exaggerated words and actions for entertainment, but that aspect drew many criticisms that it was "out of step with the times," and comments such as "it's uncomfortable to watch," "it's rude," and "it makes you frown" appeared.
Yang Sang-guk reflected, "If there are people who feel discomfort...," and Yu Jae-seok comforted and urged, "What matters now is that you need to be careful as you become a star," saying, "Reflect and don't do it again." Yang Sang-guk also acknowledged his fault, saying, "That's right."
Yang Sang-guk also expressed an apology in an exclusive interview with OSEN regarding this matter.
In a recent phone call with OSEN, Yang Sang-guk said about the series of criticisms that recently surfaced, "Since these are comments made after watching the broadcast, I will take them to heart. Both the intense interest and the critical reactions are things I'm experiencing for the first time, so I didn't know how to respond. That's why I think I couldn't say more, but I will take everything to heart."
He said that in his last relationship he escorted his partner home every day for two years, and apologized, "As the 'Gyeongsang Province man' character who looked out for me, I felt I shouldn't have spoken that way, so I spoke strongly, and in trying to show the expected image I think I crossed the line. In reality I'm not that kind of person, but I spoke over the top without realizing it, which seems to have made viewers uncomfortable, for which I'm sorry. To those who filmed with me, I was truly courteous on set. But because I felt the camera-facing side had to be different from the real me, I probably overdid it, and I apologize for causing unnecessary discomfort to viewers and the production team," repeatedly apologizing.
Yang Sang-guk gained attention on several YouTube channels for his realistic Gyeongsang Province dialect and rose to become a top trend through the Hangout With Yoo - "War of Money" series. Then he was hit directly by comments about his girlfriend during Yu Jae-seok's "Pingeugo," and once again on Hangout With Yoo he drew attention by bowing his head and offering an apology. <
