"Sadang-gwi" Jun Hyun-moo, who after the Olympics is taking on broadcasting the CONCACAF World Cup.
On the 17th, on KBS 2TV's "The CEO's ears are donkey ears" (directed by Choi Seung-hee, hereafter "Sadang-gwi"), 21-year veteran new(?) caster Jun Hyun-moo, who will join KBS's CONCACAF World Cup broadcast team, shares his thoughts.
Jun Hyun-moo drew public interest to weightlifting, long considered an unpopular sport, when he broadcast weightlifting for the first time at the 2024 Paris Olympics. At that time, Jun Hyun-moo's heartfelt enthusiasm for the underdog sport of weightlifting left a deep impression on many, and the match he broadcast recorded the highest viewership ratings among the three terrestrial broadcasters.
Jun Hyun-moo said, "I will, for the first time in my life, broadcast the World Cup to enjoy soccer with many citizens." In particular, despite the heavy burden of broadcasting his first World Cup, Jun Hyun-moo is reported to have accepted the caster offer to support KBS announcer junior Nam Hyun-jong. To prepare, Jun Hyun-moo personally visited K League sites to meet Nam Hyun-jong and commentator Lee Young-pyo and is in intense study mode learning the A to Z of soccer broadcasting.
Meanwhile, Jun Hyun-moo said, "This is my first World Cup broadcast," and vowed, "I will add a spoonful of entertainment to soccer commentary." He also said, "I and Lee Young-pyo are both born in the year of the snake in '77. Please look forward to the special chemistry of those born in the year of the snake," raising expectations. Jun Hyun-moo listed the chemistry with commentator Lee Young-pyo and the youthful energy of 32-year-old Nam Hyun-jong, the youngest World Cup broadcast caster ever, as points to watch as he takes his first step toward KBS's CONCACAF World Cup.
Meanwhile, when news broke that Jun Hyun-moo would broadcast the CONCACAF World Cup, Park Myung Soo's eyes lit up. He said, "Hyun-moo, don't worry about this place," and then kindled his ambition to vie for MC Jun Hyun-moo's spot.
