'Sokpuri show Dongchimi' singer Cho Young Nam showed off a fiery wit about marital conflicts.
On the 9th episode of MBN 'Sokpuri show Dongchimi' (hereafter "Dongchimi"), Sul Woon-do, Nam Jin and Cho Young Nam continued the 700th episode special following last week. This week the show even ran the "sokpuri show" segment. Lee Hyun-i said, "To mark the 700th episode, we personally received stories from 700 people across the country. There was a really hot response," she said.
In a letter that read, 'My mother still compares sons-in-law, saying my husband is the Cho Young Nam type and she wants a son-in-law like Nam Jin. We have been married 40 years,' Cho Young Nam said, "I tell my daughter, 'You should meet someone like me,' " adding, "There should be someone who completely understands you and loves you to the end, and the sample of that someone is a person like me." In response Nam Jin said, "Are you telling her to get a divorce like you?" which made Cho Young Nam grow emotional.
Nam Jin said, "You should live with one person, would you become someone who lives as complicatedly as you?" and spoke about what is important in marriage. Cho Young Nam said, "I don't feel like I'm divorced," surprising everyone.
For this, the youngest and junior member Sul Woon-do had to answer, 'If you were a woman, who would you choose?' Sul Woon-do honestly said, "If I were a woman, I would be Nam Jin. Cho Young Nam is free-spirited and might leave if a new woman appears. Senior Nam Jin would not look at another woman even if I approached him. Even if I receive criticism, I think I should honestly say these things," and spoke frankly. Cho Young Nam turned his face away and remained silent.
No Sa-yeon said, "I have known Cho Young Nam personally, so I think Cho Young Nam would be all right as a husband," praising Cho Young Nam to some extent, but the studio was not particularly on his side, which drew laughter.
In the next letter came a story about an annoying husband who only speaks filial piety to his mother-in-law. Cho Young Nam said, "Why live with that kind of man? It's a waste of time. Just break up," and mercilessly told them to separate as if there was nothing to listen to. Kim Yong Man was flustered and said, "Why are you telling every letter to get a divorce?" and Nam Jin added, "It's not just the two of them living together; aren't there children to consider? There should at least be loyalty and a sense of responsibility," explaining that marriage is complicated and not just a one-to-one relationship between a woman and a man.
The next letter was an incredible story. 'My husband, who retired at the mandatory retirement age, was immediately reemployed, and I thought he truly had a sense of responsibility for the family. But one day a sexual enhancement pill came out of his pants. He had an affair with a woman he met at the same workplace. I asked that woman for a 10 million won settlement, and the husband paid that money. The husband now says he doesn't care even if we get divorced,' the letter read.
No Sa-yeon said firmly, "This person seems to have truly trusted her husband, so she calls it a first affair. It's definitely not a late-in-life fling," and Lee Hong-ryeol strongly recommended divorce, saying, "An older person once told me not to glance sideways as I get older. He said it's not about thinking another woman would be better than my wife."
Cho Young Nam said, "I got divorced because I had an affair. The driver told his sister that I cheated. When I was being interrogated, I should have denied it. I even said honestly that I attended a theological seminary," adding, "That was when I graduated from the theological seminary. But that couple lived together for 40 years, so they can separate. I only lived 13 years," and once again recommended divorce with his own logic.
