"Perfect Crown" Byeon Woo-seok and IU spent sweet time together as an ordinary married couple after the abolition of the monarchy.
In the final episode of MBC's Friday-Saturday drama Perfect Crown broadcast on the 16th, Ian Daegun (Byeon Woo-seok) and Seong Hee-ju (IU) were shown completing the monarchy as the last king and queen.
That day Seong Hee-ju asked Ian Daegun, who was about to succeed the throne, "What is the first thing you will say as king?" Ian Daegun began, "I will say something very difficult. I may be heavily criticized," and then revealed, "I will abolish the royal household. Things like inherited status become privileges, and things that become restrictions start with the royal household."
Then Seong Hee-ju hugged him, saying, "I thought it was a treason, but it was a revolution. My own dream," and Ian Daegun asked, "It's barely a status you have — are you ready to let it go?" Seong Hee-ju supported him, saying, "When did I ever want a status? I missed opportunities because of that and they sucked," and Ian Daegun laughed, "That's when I knew. You are my revolution."
King Ian Daegun declared the abolition of the monarchy before the cabinet and the royal relatives. Min Jung-woo (Noh Sang Hyun) raised objections, and even went to find Yoon Il-rang (Gong Seung-yeon) to coerce her into opposing, saying, "Do you want to make his son a criminal?" while threatening her.
At the meeting with the royal relatives, Min Jung-woo continued to oppose the abolition of the monarchy and pressed the issue. Seong Hee-ju, who appeared then, exposed, "So you were going to kill him? The royal household exerts influence in every area—economy, diplomacy, culture. Were you going to assassinate the king of this country just for the reason of abolishing the royal household?"
It turned out that Yoon Il-rang had handed over the recorded file with Min Jung-woo. He said, "The sovereign is not a cruel person. But the queen is different, isn't she? Above all, Prime Minister Min would be the most hurt if he were cut by you."
Shocked, Ian Daegun angrily asked, "Is all this true? Is it true?" When those around him tried to calm the situation, he warned, "I asked the prime minister. From now on, anyone who defends Prime Minister Min will be treated as an accomplice of those who tried to assassinate me."
Afterward Ian Daegun asked if they really tried to kill him, and Min Jung-woo admitted it was true, revealing, "I begged you. I asked you to push Hee-ju away so far—then I said I would protect you. I told you that many times. It's your fault. This is how I became like this." Ian Daegun retorted, "It's your fault for thinking you lost something you never even had."
Meanwhile, the abolition of the monarchy was implemented through a public vote. And three years later, Seong Hee-ju, who returned to Castle Beauty, went on parental leave and took charge of the Castle Card in place of her brother. Iwan (Byeon Woo-seok), who reverted from Ian Daegun to his original name, reported that he organized the royal assets into a foundation and began operating it.
The two became ordinary lovers. Iwan, whose proposal plan was discovered, asked, "Don't you want to wear a wedding dress?" but Seong Hee-ju replied, "We already did once. I was sincere from then, but you weren't, were you?"
When asked again when he had been sincere, Iwan confessed, "Didn't you know from the start? I liked you for a long time. From the first time you told me your name."
Iwan said, "Even at midnight I wanted to run toward the bright red, but you are so famous that even after graduation I kept hearing about you. I thought there might be at least one chance to cross paths, but there never was. Then I saw you at Tanil-yeon," and Seong Hee-ju laughed, "So you ran here?" Iwan, who said she had been his first love since Royal School days, approached Seong Hee-ju and gave her a sweet kiss.
