Actress Lim Ji-yeon is leading My Royal Nemesis's skyward march with a protean performance.
On the 15th, the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama My Royal Nemesis (written by Kang Hyun-joo, directed by Han Tae-seop and Kim Hyun-woo) recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 5.8% according to Nielsen Korea. This is 0.4 percentage points higher than the 5.4% rating recorded by episode 2, which aired on the 9th, making My Royal Nemesis's highest rating to date.
At the center of the steady upward trend in ratings, which started from a 4.1% rating for the premiere and has risen each episode, is Lim Ji-yeon. Lim Ji-yeon, who is playing Shin Seori, an obscure actress in Korea possessed by the soul of Gang Dan-sim, a legendary villain who once ruled Joseon, has captivated viewers with a perfect performance that is lovable, funny and even fierce.
In the last episode, Shin Seori, who unexpectedly ran into Choi Mun-do (Jang Seung-jo), could not hide her embarrassment and dashed into Cha Segye's (Heo Nam-jun) arms. After this scene, which raised the excitement level, an odd stillness fell between the two and signaled the start of a full-fledged romance.
Lim Ji-yeon, who brought delight, portrays Shin Seori's pitiful daily life with her characteristic charm and comic timing, and through Shin Seori's earnest adaptation to an unfamiliar reality she once again offered her distinctive lovability.
Amid Lim Ji-yeon's protean performances, My Royal Nemesis is maintaining its upward momentum.
