Trot singer Park Ji-hyun said her family used to be well-off.
On the 15th episode of MBN entertainment show Jun Hyun-moo plan 3, aired on the 15th, viewers saw Park Ji-hyun join Jun Hyun-moo and KwakTube as a food companion. They enjoyed gourmet food and conversation in Samcheok, Gangwon Province.
That day Jun Hyun-moo mentioned, "(Park Ji-hyun) is from Mokpo and worked in something related to seafood," and said Park Ji-hyun is a seafood expert.
Park Ji-hyun recalled, "We wholesaled seafood," adding, "When I calculated the cleaned skate, there were more than 60,000 pieces." Park Ji-hyun explained, "On my mother's side everyone was involved (in the seafood industry). An uncle worked on a boat and my maternal grandfather was the head of the fishing village cooperative."
She added, "So I naturally took on seafood wholesaling as if it were something to be done. My mother was having a hard time, so it was work I did to help her," which moved those listening.
On the way to the next location, Park Ji-hyun said she studied abroad in Shanghai, China when she was young. Park Ji-hyun said, "Having been to China as a child, I don't really know in the end whether studying abroad was good or not," and regretted, "I used to be good at studying, but I missed out on the Korean education system while I was there."
Park Ji-hyun said, "At the age of a fifth grader I attended middle school classes," and lamented, "Back then my family was well-off. My parents ran a Korean restaurant in the Shanghai Korean town, they even advertised in newspapers and spent a lot of money. We returned after two years; if the business had done well, wouldn't we still be living there now?"
Later Jun Hyun-moo asked Park Ji-hyun if she had any thoughts about marriage. Park Ji-hyun immediately said, "Yes," adding, "I want to get married, have children and live that life." KwakTube then asked about her ideal type. Park Ji-hyun answered, "I like someone kind and pretty. I prefer a pure, pretty style."
Meanwhile, Park Ji-hyun confessed, "I wanted to be a singer since middle school. As it turned out, I'm relatively good at trot. I know it very well."
She said, "Since I was young our family always ran a business, so we always had trot playing. Growing up listening to trot, I decided to try being a trot singer and it went very well," adding, "These days my life is happy."
