'Perfect Crown' Byeon Woo-seok declared the abolition of the monarchy.
In the final episode of MBC's Friday-Saturday drama Perfect Crown, which aired on the 16th, Grand Prince Iaan (Byeon Woo-seok) who became king was shown declaring the abolition of the monarchy.
Entering the main hall that day, Grand Prince Iaan declared, "Let's begin discussions on abolishing the monarchy." At the same time, when Choi Hyun (Yu Su-bin) grew anxious, Seong Hee-ju (IU) shouted, "Stay still."
Seong Hee-ju recalled the conversation with Grand Prince Iaan from the day before. Seong Hee-ju asked, "What will be your first words as king?" and Grand Prince Iaan took Seong Hee-ju's hand and said, "I'm going to say something very difficult. You might really be criticized, but still, my junior is—"
When Seong Hee-ju said, "You'll understand me," Grand Prince Iaan revealed, "I'm going to abolish the royal family. Things like inherited status — when that becomes privilege and constraint, it starts with the royal family."
Then Seong Hee-ju said, "I thought it was a treason plot, but it was a revolution. It's my dream," and hugged him. At that, Grand Prince Iaan asked, "It's a status you barely have — are you ready to let it go?"
Seong Hee-ju replied, "When did I ever say I wanted status? The opportunities I missed because of that were miserable," to which Grand Prince Iaan laughed and said, "I realized then. My junior is my revolution."
