ENA Monday-Tuesday drama "Scarecrow" has taken a shocking turning point by revealing the identity of the serial killer, heating up living rooms.
"Scarecrow" (director Park Jun-woo, writer Lee Ji-hyun) recently recorded an average nationwide rating of 7.4% and a peak of 8.2% for episode 8, firmly holding the No. 1 spot among Monday-Tuesday dramas. Not only on domestic TVing but also on the global OTT Viu, it entered the top five in five major Asian countries, including No. 1 in Indonesia, proving the "Scarecrow syndrome" at home and abroad.
With only four episodes left until the finale, the true culprit Lee Yong-woo's identity was revealed to be Lee Ki-hwan (played by Jung Moon-sung), highlighting three key points to watch in the intensifying second half.
The most noteworthy moment is the breathless confrontation between Kang Tae-Ju (played by Park Hae-soo) and the real killer Lee Yong-woo. The revelation that Lee Yong-woo was once a friend named Lee Ki-hwan made their relationship even more precarious. In particular, the mysterious number "murder 12+2" left by Lee heightens the tension. Regarding the number "2," he said, "the interesting part is this side," and mentioned a young girl, sending chills through viewers. Whether and how the girl who disappeared 30 years ago is connected to this number and what confession Kang Tae-Ju will draw out are receiving close attention.
Following Lee Ki-beom (played by Song Geon-hee), another wrongly accused victim, Im Seok-man (played by Baek Seung-hwan), is also a matter of intense interest. Im Seok-man, who was driven to be suspected of being the perpetrator because of the elaborate clues that even fooled Kang Tae-Ju, made false statements after harsh interrogation. Abandoned even by his family and sentenced to death by Cha Si-young (played by Lee Heejun) in court, whether he will meet the same tragic end as Lee Ki-beom or whether a dramatic reversal will occur is raising viewers' outrage and curiosity.
The cooperation expected between Kang Tae-Ju and Cha Si-young completely collapsed after Lee Ki-beom's death. Enraged at Cha Si-young and his cohorts, who brought about Lee Ki-beom's death through illegal investigation and assault, Kang Tae-Ju declared all-out war with the shocking act of putting handcuffs on them at the funeral. Despite Cha Si-young's retaliation in the form of disciplinary action and reassignment, Kang Tae-Ju warned, "I will definitely break you." The bitter enmity between the two men, tangled with misunderstanding and wounds, is cited as the biggest point of interest in the second half as viewers wait to see how it will conclude.
