Broadcaster Hwang Hye-young, a former member of mixed group Tutu, revealed she once underwent brain tumor surgery due to a meningioma.
On the 13th, she appeared as a guest on TV CHOSUN's Perfect Life (abbreviated as "Pera").
Hwang Hye-young, who once served as the sole female member of mixed group Tutu, was greatly loved as the original pocket girl. She recalled the popularity at the time, saying "A typical day had 11 or 12 schedules. But because of travel time, we even rode helicopters and boats on the Han River," she reminisced.
Her popularity was especially great at military bases. Hwang Hye-young joked, "At the friendship stage for military units, the ending was Seo Taiji and Boys, and we were just before them. When we finished our stage and were leaving, Seo Taiji said, 'This won't work for you here,'" she quipped.
Born in 1973 and 54 this year, Hwang Hye-young still boasted baby-smooth, egg-like skin. However, she added, "How could I not worry about my health? I'm heading into my mid-50s. When I was young, running an online mall, I couldn't sleep and was always tense, and then in 2010 I was diagnosed with a meningioma," she revealed, adding shock.
She said, "At first I thought there was a problem with my ear, so I had ear, nose and throat and internal medicine exams, and a brain tumor was found in the right cerebellum," and added, "I wondered why I got this disease; I had only lived diligently, and I fell into depression," she confessed.
She continued, "It was about a month after I met my husband that I received that diagnosis. I said I wouldn't have the surgery and would let everything go, but my husband scheduled the operation, had me admitted and had it done. I am still very grateful for that. When I was young I took my health for granted, and now I have regrets," she revealed.
