The most anticipated zombie film of the first half of the year, "Gunch'e," has finally unveiled its complete poster.
The new film by director Yeon Sang-ho, "Gunch'e," which was officially invited to the midnight screening institutional sector at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, has released its official poster.
Set inside a building sealed off by an unidentified infection, the film "Gunch'e" (director Yeon Sang-ho, provided and distributed by SHOWBOX, produced by Wowpoint (WOWPOINT)·Smilegate, co-produced by Midnight Studio) has attracted attention by releasing an official poster that raises expectations for the roles of six characters.
The released poster captures attention with a striking visual of the six characters in "Gunch'e" amid an unknown mucous substance.
In particular, the expressions of each character contain a variety of emotions—from resolute determination to survive to the will to uncover the truth of the incident and inscrutable mystery—which arouse interest. The mysterious mucous substance situated among the six characters provokes curiosity about its identity and what connection it might have to the infection.
The official poster, filled with images of Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Changwook, Shin Hyun-been, Kim Shin-rock and Go Soo, delivers an overwhelming presence that is hard to look away from and raises expectations for the most intense ensemble of 2026 that "Gunch'e" will present. Worldwide prospective audiences are focused on the fierce confrontations and suspense that will unfold between the six main characters and the infected in this extreme situation.
In "Gunch'e," Jun Ji-hyun plays Kwon Se-jung, a biotechnologist and leader of the survivors; Koo Kyo-hwan plays Seo Young-cheol, a genius biologist who longs for the birth of a new humanity; Ji Changwook plays Choi Hyun-seok, a security team employee at the Donguri building who becomes trapped in the building with his sister; Kim Shin-rock plays Choi Hyun-hee, Choi Hyun-seok's sister who has a lower-body disability; Shin Hyun-been plays Gong Seol-hee, a professor majoring in biotechnology who holds a clue to solving the incident; and Go Soo plays Han Gyu-seong, Kwon Se-jung's ex-husband and a professor and researcher in the biotechnology department.
The star-studded lineup—from Jun Ji-hyun, who returns to the screen 11 years after the film "Assassination," to Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Changwook, Shin Hyun-been, Kim Shin-rock and Go Soo—raises expectations on name recognition alone and is expected to show a powerful and fresh ensemble.
Meanwhile, the new work by zombie master Yeon Sang-ho, "Gunch'e," featuring standout performances from Jun Ji-hyun to Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Changwook, Shin Hyun-been, Kim Shin-rock and Go Soo, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, which opened on the 12th (local time), and will be released domestically on May 21.
