The group BTS once again reaffirmed its distinctive presence in the global music market. On May 12 (local time), according to the latest chart released by U.S. music trade publication Billboard (dated May 16), BTS's fifth full-length album "Arirang" (ARIRANG) title track "SWIM" reclaimed the top spot on the "Global (excluding U.S.)" chart, and it rose to No. 2 on the "Global 200" chart.
In particular, on the "Global (excluding U.S.)" chart it rebounded one rank from last week, showing strong staying power. The 13 vocal tracks included on this album stayed on that chart for seven consecutive weeks, proving its worldwide popularity. On the main album chart, the Billboard 200, "Arirang" ranked No. 7, holding its top-10 position for seven weeks, and the title track "SWIM" also entered the main song chart, the Hot 100, for the seventh consecutive week, rising two spots from last week to No. 30.
Their performances on the subcharts were also remarkable. "Arirang" remained at No. 4 on the Top Album Sales chart, reached No. 14 on Top Streaming Albums and No. 8 on Vinyl Albums, showing balanced results across various metrics. "SWIM" also charted across radio airplay-related charts, including Adult Contemporary at No. 16, Pop Airplay at No. 13, Adult Pop Airplay at No. 16 and Radio Songs at No. 30, confirming the broad local audience affection.
On the World Albums chart, BTS's enduring power that spans their new and older works stood out. No fewer than five albums simultaneously appeared on that chart: Proof at No. 4 continued its long-running success in its 204th week, MAP OF THE SOUL : 7 ~ THE JOURNEY ~ at No. 10, LOVE YOURSELF 轉 "Tear" at No. 19, 화양연화 Young Forever at No. 23, and LOVE YOURSELF 承 "Her" at No. 25.
BTS is currently successfully conducting their ARIRANG world tour in 12 North American cities with 31 shows, and the enormous economic effect they generate, "BTSnomics," is also receiving global attention. According to Reuters, the total revenue from this tour is expected to reach about $1.8 billion (about 2.7 trillion won). BTS plans to continue the tour's heated momentum at Stanford Stadium in the United States on May 16–17 and 19.
