The final records of the life of the late actor Lee Soon-jae are being revealed.
On the 12th, KBS2's 'The secret of the celebrity soldier' will spotlight the life of Lee Soon-jae, the
The late Lee Soon-jae, who endured a 70-year acting career with single-minded determination, showed a fiery passion and behind-the-scenes stories from his battle with illness that had not been made public, which moved and brought tears to us.
Lee Soon-jae, in January 2025, won his first acting grand prize 70 years after his debut. Having halted activities due to worsening health, Lee Soon-jae appeared on stage three months later looking gaunt and said, "When you live long, days like this come," and added, "I owe you a lot," as a farewell.
In particular, during the filming of 'Nonsense,' his final work, Lee Soon-jae was diagnosed with cataracts and reportedly had to undergo immediate surgery. He flatly refused the production team's recommendation to rest, saying, "I can't cause trouble," and returned in front of the camera after about two weeks, but his vision was poor and his hearing was impaired. The story that he completed the work by memorizing lines read to him by his manager in an extreme situation of both declining sight and hearing brings a lump to the throat.
Appearing on the broadcast are Park Sodam, who shared the stage with Lee Soon-jae in theater, and Park Haemee, who worked with him in sitcoms. Park Sodam recounted an anecdote about Lee Soon-jae's astonishing memorization she witnessed from the script reading days when they staged plays together, and MC Le Chanwon joked before Lee Soon-jae's strict self-restraint, "Even so, I don't smoke," causing the set to erupt in laughter, according to reports.
Specialist Lee Nakjun said, "The habit of repeatedly memorizing certain information actually helps maintain or increase the brain's storage capacity," emphasizing Lee Soon-jae's passion and determination.
