Lee Kyung-kyu appeared as a live broadcast MC on KBS1's '2026 FIFA CONCACAF World Cup D-30 for victory' aired on the 12th, working alongside announcers Eom Ji-in and Nam Hyun-jong.
After the first congratulatory performance, Lee Kyung-kyu, who took the stage with Eom Ji-in and Nam Hyun-jong, was asked why he was there when he was neither a commentator nor a caster, and said, "I am going to Guadalajara, Mexico, to report the atmosphere on the ground," saying he would be dispatched to the site during this World Cup to deliver a vivid voice.
Contrary to concerns raised earlier by speculation about his health, Lee Kyung-kyu drew attention by speaking clearly and raising his energy instead of speaking haltingly.
In particular, Lee Kyung-kyu cited that this World Cup is different because "there are many matches as 48 countries are participating," and, while expressing regret over the domestic World Cup atmosphere that has not heated up yet due to issues such as broadcasting rights, he said, "the fever is building now."
Meanwhile, Lee Kyung-kyu had raised concerns about his health ahead of the live broadcast stage that day. A recently released YouTube video had shown a halting manner of speaking that caused worry, and his agency explained it was a "temporary drop in condition due to lack of sleep."
