On the 11th episode of KBS Joy Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller (hereafter 'Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller') episode 364, former GFriend solo artist Yuju appeared and drew attention.
That day Yuju confessed, "Whenever I start preparing an album my appetite goes to zero and it disrupts my daily life," which surprised people. She said she is 169cm tall and is thinner now than when she was active with "GFriend." During "GFriend" activities her weight was 52kg, and she said it recently dropped to 45kg.
Yuju added, "I thought carelessly, 'If I lose weight I'll look prettier on screen,' and once I collapsed at home and later woke up," and said, "I could barely eat even three spoonfuls of rice so I had an endoscopy."
The result came back recommending psychiatric treatment. Yuju said, "When I asked the reason they said the stomach and digestive organs were fine but for people like me there can be psychological causes so they told me to go that route," and explained that was when she first realized the seriousness.
She thought she was doing what she loved, but she said she belatedly realized she had become extremely sensitive out of ambition for her career.
Yuju even said that during recording one of her ears stopped hearing and when she went to the hospital she was told, "The eardrum should have a certain amount of fat, but even the eardrum fat has disappeared. You need to eat, not medicine."
With a pained expression Lee Soo-keun said, "You are an amateur. You cannot become a pro. How can you comfort the public with this attitude?"
Seo Jang-hoon also advised, "The sound you make when you are about to collapse and the sound you make when you eat well and are in good condition are different, and the emotion is different. You need to manage your condition well with the mindset of showing fans your best self for a long time."
