Actor Son Yeo-eun mentioned what she wanted to show through Phantom Lawyer.
The actor Son Yeo-eun, who appeared in the SBS Friday-Saturday drama Phantom Lawyer, which ended on the 2nd, recently shared her feelings about finishing the work in a written interview with OSEN.
Phantom Lawyer is a strange yet warm vengeance adventure about Shin I-rang (Yoo Yeon-seok), the "possessed lawyer" who thrillingly resolves the grudges of the deceased, and Han Na-hyun (Esom), the "cold-blooded elite lawyer" who stakes everything on winning, and Son Yeo-eun played Shin Sa-rang, Shin I-rang (Yoo Yeon-seok)'s older sister.
Earlier this year Son Yeo-eun also gave a strong performance as Sun Hee-yeon, the older sister of Ahn Bo-hyun's Seon Jae-gyu, in the recently concluded Spring Fever. Although she consecutively played the sister of the male lead, the characters of the two works were polar opposites.
Son Yeo-eun said she reflected that approach in her work. She explained, "When I played Seon Jae-gyu's older sister in Spring Fever, I focused on interpreting and expressing Seon Hee-yeon's thoroughly self-centered feelings from her perspective."
She added, "I acted while going back and forth between two sets at the same time, and performing two completely opposite characters simultaneously made me feel each character's charm more deeply; it was an interesting experience."
Asked about what she wanted to show through this work, she said, "Since Seon Hee-yeon from Spring Fever is the exact opposite character, even though it's the same sister role, I liked that I could show contrasting sides at the same time," and added, "I want to continue to take on various roles and communicate so that people will feel, 'Every time Son Yeo-eun appears, she seems new.'"
When asked if there were any memorable episodes during the filming of Phantom Lawyer, Son Yeo-eun said, "I remember filming on the rooftop where Sa-rang finally felt her father and had to let him go forever."
Son Yeo-eun added, "It really hurt and I cried a lot, but it seemed many viewers empathized with that scene and received comfort and emotion. It was very cold that day and we filmed on the building rooftop bundled in padding, and I remember the moments with everyone who kept smiling despite the cold."
About Phantom Lawyer, Son Yeo-eun said, "I was glad to meet such a warm and good-hearted drama after a long time, and because my character could convey that warmth and goodness as is, I think it will be even more memorable."
Finally, Son Yeo-eun said about her future activities, "I want to visit often with good works, and as an actor and as a musician I want to communicate with the public in diverse ways through new acting and original songs."
