(continuing from interview ③) 'The Legend of the Unknown' season 2 is stepping into the global market.
Recently, OSEN conducted an interview with Kim Si-jung, Director General of production at MBN, who met at the MBN Media Center in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, and who creates programs that bring happiness to viewers, including 'The Legend of the Unknown.'
On the day, Kim Si-jung said about the possibility of the show's goal of "globalization," "Requests for performances from overseas are already coming in," and noted, "It is no longer K-tr trot confined to Korea; opportunities are arising to globalize it," attracting attention.
He said that a spin-off of 'The Legend of the Unknown' and season 2 are currently under discussion for production, and added, "As soon as 'The Legend of the Unknown' finishes broadcasting, we immediately follow with a gala show and a dinner show. After the gala show, starting June 13 we will hold a nationwide tour concert and release the spin-off. Then we plan to do season 2 at the end of the year and the beginning of the next year. Season 2 will try to go beyond Korea. So it will look different," which raised curiosity.
Already in season 1 of 'The Legend of the Unknown,' finalists such as Jang Han-byeol and several participants of foreign nationalities took part. In season 2, the scope will be expanded and auditions will be held for global participants.
Kim Si-jung said, "I tried it in season 1 and saw the marketability. If there are performers like Jang Han-byeol, who holds Australian nationality, they can accompany us when we go to overseas performances. Watching this season, I saw that possibility. So this time, global participants did not enter as much as I thought they would, but I hope season 2 can properly try it," expressing expectation.
He added, "The final broadcast on May 13 is not the end. It starts from then. We are now thinking about overseas performances. Starting with the gala show, we plan concerts, a spin-off program, and even overseas expansion," stating the goal.
Meanwhile, the final episode of 'The Legend of the Unknown' will be broadcast on the 13th at 9:10 p.m.
