Group VIXX member and actor Cha Hak-yeon said that VIXX will reunite to mark their 14th anniversary.
On the morning of the 11th, an interview with Cha Hak-yeon, actor in the Coupang Play series Absolute Value of Romance, was held at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Absolute Value of Romance is a high-teen comedy series that stars handsome teachers and follows a high school girl who used to write romance novels as she meets them in unexpected moments in real life and becomes the protagonist of a tumultuous school life; it is released every Friday at 8 p.m. In the drama, Cha Hak-yeon appears as Ga Woo-su, the new math teacher at Murim High School, a Mensa member with an IQ of 156 and striking, tear-inducing looks, showing his presence.
In February this year, Cha Hak-yeon held a full-group fan meeting as a VIXX member. When asked whether it overlapped with the filming period for Absolute Value of Romance, Cha Hak-yeon said, "It overlapped a little toward the end of filming. I worked hard on my stamina. Because it was a precious moment for me, I like exercising, so I worked out every day," revealing his secret to managing his fitness.
He added, "Because we were filming in Jeonju, we started at 4 a.m., so even though there was little time to exercise, the four of us went to every gym in Jeonju for an hour each, and we more or less conquered the gyms," he said. Cha Hak-yeon said, "And I tried to go to bed early, and every day I woke up at 4 a.m. At those times I would finish work early, take a nap, and prepare for the fan meeting," he said.
How did the members react after watching Absolute Value of Romance? Cha Hak-yeon said, "A few days ago, Hyuk sent a photo of the Pythagoras costume on KakaoTalk. He sent 'as expected,' so I asked, 'Why? What? Because of what?' but he didn't reply. It seems like he tosses out awkward scenes like that and runs away. We recently gathered once at Leo's house and they told me it was fun, which encouraged me," he said.
Because they filmed in Jeonju, he could not skip exploring the local eateries. Cha Hak-yeon explained, "I actually ate too much. I ate the famous bean sprout soup with rice, tteokgalbi, and gaeseong juak, and I ate a lot as usual. But because the character must not gain weight, I compromised by doing cardio after eating."
He said, "Woo-su managed his weight a lot, but I usually follow a diet, so I eat regular meals at lunch; Woo-su tended to replace lunch with a salad. I easily become round, so I tried to manage my weight more to avoid gaining as much as possible."
Cha Hak-yeon, who marks his 14th year since debut this year, said, "First of all, our 14th anniversary is coming up soon. Recently, when we met the members, we talked about what would be good to do for the 14th anniversary, and we are quietly planning with the members, and if there is a good project as a work, perhaps we can show a good side," raising expectations.
