Broadcaster and former announcer Jun Hyun-moo tried his hand at football commentary ahead of KBS's CONCACAF World Cup coverage.
Jun Hyun-moo made a special halftime appearance at the 2026 K League 1 match between Ulsan HD FC and Bucheon FC1995 held at Ulsan Munsu World Cup Stadium on the 10th. At the event, he matched commentary rhythm for the first time with analyst Lee Young-pyo and KBS announcer Nam Hyun-jong, who will join him as the main broadcast team for KBS's CONCACAF World Cup.
Jun Hyun-moo previously announced his debut as a football commentator for KBS's coverage of Korea's third group-stage match against South Africa in the CONCACAF World Cup, which his former employer KBS will broadcast. As a result, Jun Hyun-moo's football commentary is receiving intense attention.
Appearing for the first time at halftime, Jun Hyun-moo introduced himself by saying, "I am rookie caster Jun Hyun-moo," and expressed his determination to take on football commentary, saying, "This year marks 20 years since I first joined KBS. I have many shortcomings, but I will try to contribute even a little bit of help."
He also emphasized his unusual level of preparation, saying, "I watch K League matches and even take notes while studying." He added his ambition for a friendly broadcast, saying, "I will prepare fully over the remaining month and deliver commentary that meets viewers' expectations."
Analyst Lee Young-pyo expressed unlimited trust in his same-age colleague Jun Hyun-moo. He praised Jun Hyun-moo, saying, "His voice itself has a sense of stability. He sounds like a commentator who has been doing football broadcasts continuously." In response, Jun Hyun-moo raised expectations, saying, "We are both born in 1977, so there may be a snake-year chemistry. We are the same age but have completely opposite personalities, so a contrasting chemistry may erupt."
