Dancer Gabee left for a short study abroad in the U.K. and ultimately broke down in tears. She injured her knee and was unable to do what she had wanted.
On the 9th, Gabee's YouTube channel 'Gabee Girl' published content titled 'Shin Gabee dancer's daily life at London U.K. mini study abroad'.
Gabee greeted viewers from London, England. Gabee first said, "I can't say much out loud right now because it's 12:30. When I booked it I thought I was renting a whole house, but the homeowner is here and I'm using this room. No wonder it was cheap. It's cozy and cute," introducing her accommodation.
She added, "It's very clean and well kept. I'm staying seven nights and eight days and it cost 1,800,000 won. That's cheap in London. It easily goes over 2,000,000 won. But they said it's strictly for one person. Since I'm one person, it didn't matter, but it was cheap because I live with the homeowner," she said.
The next day Gabee got up early, went shopping at a supermarket and, while eating breakfast, explained why she came to the U.K. Gabee said, "I came to learn dance. I'll start hosting a radio show in May. When you're doing radio, it's hard to go abroad unless it's for filming. So I thought, let's try something I've wanted to do in April. I wanted to go abroad to learn dance. These days the U.K. is really hot."
She went on to confess, "Actually I reduced my work a bit because I had been working too much. I was really appearing a lot. I did it because it was so enjoyable, but at some point it became like an obsession. The compulsion to have to work, the compulsion that I couldn't rest. It was mentally tough. The people who work with me probably had a hard time too," she said. After 'Street Woman Fighter' she experienced burnout from juggling work and performances as a dancer and many entertainment appearances.
Gabee added, "I decided to take some time off and rested continuously, and I resolved not to overwork in a day, to know my limits and not exceed them. I felt at 34 that I need to keep balancing things."
An unexpected problem occurred as she was finishing her U.K. study. Gabee said, "I was sitting and there was a chair next to me. I wanted to move forward. I tried to hook my leg over the chair to move forward, and my knee seemed to twist suddenly. The back of it feels a bit strained," and she added, "When you injure your knee you get a fear that you might never be able to use it again. I even feel some fear when I move. I worry about getting hurt again, so I actually have to be careful," showing caution.
On the day before her final class, Gabee finally showed tears. Gabee said, "My knee isn't good. I feel pain every time I walk. I was looking forward to the last day, but I don't think I can take the lesson. I'll rest today, pack, and probably have to go home tomorrow," and she added, "I wanted to go back to Korea and dance hard, but it feels like I've hit some kind of limit, and that makes me really upset." Gabee ultimately showed tears and expressed her regret.
