"Absolute Value of Romance" is raising viewers' engagement with unpredictable developments.
On the 9th episode of the Coupang Play series Absolute Value of Romance, released on the 8th, the episode opened with Yeo Eu-ju (Kim Hyang-gi) responding with imagination that transcended time and space to Ga Woo-su (Cha Hak-yeon), who said, "I will try to understand irrational numbers."
In particular, Cha Hak-yeon and Kim Hyang-gi, who underwent a radical transformation into Pythagoras, who denied the existence of irrational numbers, and his disciple Hippasus, delivered makeup dedication that emitted chemistry beyond imagination and also brought laughter.
Afterward, Eu-ju's denial phase of falling for Woo-su, during which her feelings for him changed, drew attention. Kim Hyang-gi naturally expressed the feelings of a student toward a teacher that anyone might have experienced once in school, delivering both excitement and empathy to viewers.
Seeing this, Choi Go-ya (Kim So-hee) made a perfect diagnosis, saying, "She says it's not that way, but her heart has already gone to the other side," and Eu-ju's broken reaction brought laughter.
In episode 10, Woo-su's former Olympiad teammate Na-deu-ri (Jeong Da-on) newly appeared, adding tension. Na-deu-ri, who briefly visited Korea, proposed a joint research project in the United States to Woo-su, and Woo-su could not make a quick decision, raising curiosity about future developments.
Meanwhile, as the story of the web novel Eu-ju writes, "We were friends," continued, the appearance of Joo Si-on (Cha Hak-yeon) trying to rescue the kidnapped Choi Yoon (Kim Dong-gyu) and the depiction of Eu-ju's most concerning people appearing as villains and meeting a miserable end directly reflected Eu-ju's current state.
A record-breaking twist in which Yoon's face suddenly changes to Eu-ju herself at a decisive moment revealed Eu-ju's tumultuous emotional changes.
Absolute Value of Romance, a high-teen comedy series about a high school girl who wrote romance novels starring handsome teachers and then faces unexpected moments with them in real life, becoming the protagonist of a tumultuous school life, is released every Friday at 8 p.m. on Coupang Play.
