Actor Lim Soojung dedicated the honor of the award to her mother, who passed away.
Lim Soojung won the supporting actress award in the broadcasting institutional sector at the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci, held on the 8th, for the Disney+ original series Low Life.
In Low Life, Lim Soojung, who played Yang Jeong-suk, the proprietress of Heungbaek Industry, completed the complex character of Yang Jeong-suk—who does not easily reveal her desires, ambitions or inner thoughts—in her own colors, captivating viewers with a face she had not shown until now.
Lim Soojung said, "Yang Jeong-suk, whom I played, was a character that was a new challenge for me. I thank director Kang Yoon for supporting that challenge from start to finish," and added, "Thanks to the brilliant performances of all the actors who worked with me, we were able to complete the work with a good rhythm. I am truly grateful."
Especially, Lim Soojung recalled her mother, who died four months ago. Lim Soojung said, "Personally, my steps coming to this place today were not light. It has been about four months since my mother became a star in the sky, and as time passes the words I could not convey remain in my heart and the sorrow deepens. But receiving this award today felt as if my mother was telling me not to stay still and to move forward. I will live well and work hard as an actor until the day I meet my mother again," conveying a choking emotion.
