The 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards concluded with grand prizes awarded to Yoo Hai Jin and Ryu Seung-ryong.
On the 8th, the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci was held at COEX Hall D in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, hosted by Shin Dong-yeob, Suzy and Park Bo Gum.
Established in 1965 to promote the development of Korea's popular culture and arts and to boost artists' morale, the Baeksang Arts Awards marked its 62nd year this year. In particular, this year, marking the 60th anniversary of Korean musical theater, the awards added a musical category, bringing together all areas of popular culture and arts alongside broadcasting, film and theater, breaking down genre boundaries and becoming a festival encompassing all fields of K-content.
In the broadcasting category, Our Unwritten Seoul won two awards as it produced winners for best actress (Park Boyoung) and best director (director Park Shin-woo). You and Everything Else also won two awards, taking home best screenplay and best drama. In the entertainment category, Lee Suji won the entertainment award for the second consecutive year, and The Wonder Coach won best program. Actors Lee Chae-min and Bang Hyo-rin were the recipients of the rookie awards.
In the film category, Mun Ka-young and Park Jeongmin won the female and male best acting awards respectively, while No Other Choice won best film and took two awards including best supporting actor (Lee Sung-min), and The World of Love won two awards with best director and female rookie actor (Seo Subin). The King's Warden took four awards, winning the Gucci Impact Award, best male newcomer (Park Jihoon), Naver popularity award (Park Jihoon) and the grand prize (Yoo Hai Jin).
In the newly established musical category this year, Mongyudowon won best musical, and Kim Junsu won best actor for Beetlejuice.
Since the ceremony took place on Parents' Day, a celebratory performance honoring the parents of popular culture, including the late Lee Soon-jae, the late Jeon Yoo-sung and the late Ahn Sung-ki, was held. Hearing their voices from their lifetimes resonated with a poignant longing.
