The production team of Extreme Job and comedy craftsman director Son Jae-gon have met. The film Wild Sing, aiming to coolly target summer theatergoers with laughter (opens June 3), is predicting an extraordinary meeting of comedy and K-pop and heightening expectations.
The movie Wild Sing is a comedy that depicts the reckless challenge undertaken by the once-dominant trio coed group Triangle, which disbanded after an unfortunate accident, as they attempt a comeback after 20 years.
This work adds credibility with director Son Jae-gon, who has wielded the megaphone for distinctive worlds built on inventive imagination and ironic humor in Sweet and Deadly Lover and Hit-and-Run Sisters. In addition, About Film, the production company that created Korea's highest-grossing comedy Extreme Job, has joined forces to complete a trusted comedy lineup.
It is already creating an atmosphere that stimulates prospective audiences' dopamine as to what synergy director Son Jae-gon's unpredictable stories and distinctive characters will produce within Triangle's reckless challenge.
The reason Wild Sing is called a "full-package entertaining movie" beyond a simple comedy is that a large number of actual K-pop experts participated.
Hitmakers have assembled. Composer Shim Eun-ji, who worked with TWICE and IU, took charge of the signature song "Love is," and producers from JYP Entertainment such as KASS, who collaborated with NMIXX and ITZY, joined to maximize the sound quality.
Choreography was handled by Nana Company, which was in charge of Ssaksseuri, perfectly realizing on screen everything from nostalgic breaking dances to the latest idol choreography.
Perfectly recreated Y2K styling is also a viewing point. Makeup director Cho Tae-hee of Moving and costume director Kim Jeong-won of Pilot participated to stylishly recreate the sensibility of 20 years ago, enhancing audience immersion.
Director Son Jae-gon said he hopes the film will be one that makes audiences hum a tune before they know it as they leave the theater after laughing and enjoying themselves. It remains to be seen whether the attraction, like a "comprehensive gift set" that leaves nothing out from laughter and music to dazzling performance, will resonate with audiences.
