In the video that day, Hwasa appeared as a grants and, while eating together, had an honest conversation. During the conversation, Kim Yeong-ok asked Hwasa about memories with her grandmother.
Hwasa recalled her grandmother and confessed, "My grandmother died during COVID and I couldn't see her at the end. That haunts me," and Kim Yeong-ok responded sadly, "That must be haunting." Hwasa then asked, "How did you endure that kind of pain?" and Kim Yeong-ok quietly brought up her family history. She said, "I also have a family history. Our grandson had a traffic accident and his health worsened, enduring suffering," recalling her grandson who was diagnosed with paralysis of the lower body.
Kim Yeong-ok calmly said, "There are things no one can escape. When something comes, you just bravely get through it and live as if nothing happened."
Earlier, Kim Yeong-ok had confessed on Eun-young Oh's Golden Counseling Center that her grandson was seriously injured in 2015 in an unlicensed drunk driving car accident. At the time, the grandson was waiting for a taxi when a car ran onto the sidewalk and hit him, causing spinal damage that resulted in paralysis of the lower body.
The grandson, who had been in a coma, regained consciousness after about a year, but the long caregiving period also worsened the daughter's health. Eventually Kim Yeong-ok took care of her grandson herself, and she said, "I'm most worried about my daughter. I pray every day that my grandson endures without anything happening to him," which moved many people.
Meanwhile, Kim Yeong-ok recently attracted attention on her YouTube channel by boasting a healthy scalp even at 87. When an expert marveled, "Top-level for women in their 70s and above," she laughed and admitted, "I get a lot of stress." She also said, "Na Moon-hee tells me, 'Now, sister, live for yourself,' but how can I live for only myself? Taking care of family isn't bad," revealing deep family affection that moved viewers.
