Actor Park Jihoon won the rookie award.
On the 8th at COEX Hall D in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci was held, hosted by Shin Dong-yeob, Suzy and Park Bo Gum.
The Baeksang Arts Awards, established in 1965 to promote the development of Korea's popular culture and arts and to boost artists' morale, marked its 62nd year this year. In particular, as this year marks the 60th anniversary of Korean musical theater, a musical institutional sector was newly established to bring together all areas of popular culture and arts alongside broadcasting·film·theater, breaking down genre boundaries and becoming a festival that encompasses all fields of K-content.
The film category's best male newcomer award went to Park Jihoon, who gave a powerful performance in the film The King's Warden, which drew 16 million viewers. Park Jihoon received the trophy over Cho You Hyun (3670), Yuiha (3rd year, second semester), Ahn Hyo Seop (Omniscient Reader: The Prophet) and Moon Sang Min (Pavane).
Park Jihoon said, "I want to thank director Jang Hang-jun, who believed in me until the end. Before filming the movie I was in Hong Kong, and I'm so grateful that he trusted and watched over me saying 'only you will do.'" He added, "It was an honor in my life to share this kind of rhythm with a senior. I love senior Hae-jin."
