The flagship web variety show Repeat Restaurant on the YouTube channel Studio Suje marks its long-awaited 100th episode with an unprecedented large-scale win-or-lose special. MC Pungja will entertain viewers by facing a raw situation called the "100 small cities roulette across the country" starting with a 6 a.m. red carpet appearance.
In the 100th episode special of Repeat Restaurant, which will be released at 6:30 p.m. on the 8th (today), Pungja appears in a glamorous dress reminiscent of an awards ceremony, stealing the spotlight.
At 6 a.m., Pungja elegantly walked the red carpet prepared by the production team to celebrate the 100-episode journey. Having recently attracted major attention by losing 32kg, she said with her characteristic playful banter, "Today's inspiration was Jennie, but the salon owner called me 'the witch of the wasteland,'" turning the scene into a sea of laughter.
But shortly after, a large "win-or-lose roulette" listing 100 place names of small towns across the country, including Ulleungdo, Gadeokdo and Chujado, appeared before Pungja, and the mood suddenly shifted.
The production team conducted a surprise live stream at 6 a.m. with a strong will to "completely block any suspicion of rigging (manipulation)." With about 1,400 viewers watching in real time, the roulette spun, and when faced with a situation that required immediate departure to the selected location, Pungja fell into "mental breakdown," chased the main PD and created a tense standoff that provoked uproarious laughter.
With at least five hours of travel expected for this special, anticipation is growing over which small town Pungja will head to and whether she will discover the locals' authentic "real" restaurants.
Toward the end of filming, Pungja, saying "I feel like I'm about to cry," looked choked up as she reflected on the past five years. She said, "It's been eventful, but there are more places to go," expressing special ambition that moved the set.
