'Hyungsuda' season 2 traces the full story of a brutal murder that took place in a one-room apartment in the middle of the night, shocking viewers at home.
On the 8th at 7 p.m., the E Channel original web variety show 'Hyungsuda' season 2 (hereafter 'Hyungsuda2'), released through the YouTube channel 'Detectives' Chat', features judge-turned-lawyer Jeong Jae-min and Kim Nam-il as they spotlight a 1984 wife murder case.
In this episode, a 'news undesk' episode that deals with a real case not revealed in the news unfolds. The case began one dawn in 1984 with a brother-in-law's report that "my older sister is dead at home."
The first person to find the body was the husband. The wife, who normally would wait with the lights on even if her husband was late, that day had the house shrouded in darkness. Sensing something ominous, the husband lifted his wife and discovered a body as cold and hard as a rock and screamed. At the time of discovery, the victim's neck and both hands were intricately bound with a TV cord, and evidence of a sexual crime was even found, leaving detectives aghast.
After persistent inquiries by the detectives, a suspicious man in his 20s was spotted near the scene three hours after the incident. With dirt all over his back and pants, he was peeking into the victim's house; he claimed he was drunk and trying to go to a friend's house, but as the investigation progressed the ugly truth of that night began to emerge.
In particular, it was revealed to be someone who knew the layout of the victim's house better than anyone else, adding to the shock. After hearing the perpetrator's brazen excuses, Ahn Jung-hwan and Kim Nam-il poured out their anger, calling him "deserving of divine punishment" and "not even human."
Before the full-scale investigation, the atmosphere of 1984 is also recalled. From baby-sized dolls and bustling adult comic shops to news of the Iran-Iraq war that recalls today's international situation, a range of contemporary social scenes are covered. Hearing news of the war that lasted eight years, Ahn Jung-hwan and profiler Kwon Il-yong deeply sighed, saying "war must never happen, it must stop."
