Actress Park Boyoung won the top female excellence award in the drama category at the Baeksang Arts Awards.
On the 8th, the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci was held at COEX D Hall in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, hosted by Shin Dong-yeob, Suzy and Park Bo Gum.
The Baeksang Arts Awards, established in 1965 to promote the development of Korean popular culture and arts and to boost artists' morale, marked its 62nd year this year. In particular, as this year marks the 60th anniversary of Korean musical theater, a musical category was newly established to bring together all areas of popular culture and arts alongside broadcasting, film and theater, breaking down genre boundaries and becoming a festival that encompasses all fields of K-content.
Lim Yoona (Bon Appétit, Your Majesty), Shin Hae-sun (Lady Dua), Park Ji-hyun (You and Everything Else), Park Boyoung (Our Unwritten Seoul), Kim Go-eun (You and Everything Else) and others were listed as nominees for the top female excellence award in the broadcasting category, creating more tension than ever.
The leading figure among them was Park Boyoung. In Our Unwritten Seoul, who delivered finely detailed portrayals of different lives through three-dimensional performances beyond playing two roles, Park Boyoung introduced herself as "Park Boyoung who played Miji and Mirae."
Park Boyoung said that the drama's planned theme came to mind: whether you have ever thought someone else's life looked better than your own. She said that while my life may look better to someone else, she too had thought at times that someone else's life looked better than hers, and that she tended to notice only the talents others had while not seeing their efforts well.
She added that she hated competition and often found it overwhelming and exhausting to prove her worth and usefulness every moment, but that seeing so many excellent actors around her made her not want to fall behind and want to do well, and that the days she worked hard with a perhaps unwilling determination not to lose have made her who she is today. She expressed respect and gratitude to the many actors who became friendly rivals and sometimes acted as pacemakers.
Park Boyoung said she chose Our Unwritten Seoul with big ambition and before filming sometimes wondered what confidence and acting had made her choose this work, worrying and regretting whether she could do it well, but each time she read the script she gained courage she didn't have. She thanked the writer for writing words she could not miss, said she was very happy living as Miji and Mirae, and thanked the director who caught her whenever she wandered somewhere between Miji and Mirae during filming.
Park Boyoung said she missed and was grateful to the hardworking staff and actors. She also used the opportunity to thank the actor who worked hard as a body double for Miji and Mirae, even though they never appeared on screen. Thanks to them, she said, she was able to play Miji and Mirae well. She said that if she has another life, she would like to be born again as her parents' daughter, and she sincerely thanked the viewers and audiences, saying that the work they do would be meaningless without the people who watch and support them.
