Actor Ko Hyun-jung honestly opened up about her deteriorating health and postoperative complications and directly addressed the "excessive dieting allegations" surrounding her.
Recently, W Korea released images of Ko Hyun-jung captured at an event in New York, U.S. In the footage, Ko Hyun-jung wore a silver dress that revealed her shoulder line, creating an elegant atmosphere. Her neatly tied hairstyle and ornate jewelry added to her distinctive luxurious aura, drawing attention.
However, fans' concerns continued over her much thinner appearance than before. Reactions poured in expressing worry about possible health problems as her arms looked bony, her shoulder line appeared frail, and facial fat had noticeably diminished.
All the more worrying was Ko Hyun-jung's confession that she had undergone major surgery after her health deteriorated while filming The Mantis: Original Sin last year. At the time, she also said, "I stopped filming in the middle and then returned," and "The actors and staff helped me so much that I grew more affection for the work."
Meanwhile, through the video on the YouTube channel "Gyang Min-kyung" released on the 7th titled "Taming Ko Hyun-jung," Ko Hyun-jung provided more specific details about her current physical condition. She explained, "I had an emergency really major surgery in 2020," adding, "The area connecting the duodenum and the pancreas had only been sutured, and there were also complex stomach problems." She went on to say, "I endured by taking medicine, but I collapsed again in 2024 after taking on too much stress."
Recalling the emergency at the time, she said, "At that time, not just anyone could enter the emergency room. I kept going from hospital to hospital until I reached a state I could not bear and barely underwent surgery," and "The surgery began after midnight and I lived," she recalled.
Ko Hyun-jung also answered frankly to recent reactions that she looked lacking in energy. She said, "I really have no energy," and "I used to like eating, but now food doesn't go down well. I can only eat two or three pieces of kimbap," she said. She added, "I'm afraid something will hurt again if I eat," expressing her upset feelings. She also strongly denied, saying, "People think I diet severely, but I didn't even diet when I was young, so how could I do it now when my health is unstable."
She added, "I'm diligently visiting the hospital and taking medicine consistently. I'm managing myself harshly to get well quickly and have started strength training," and fans are voicing more support for Ko Hyun-jung to regain her health.
