Actor Koo Kyo-hwan revealed behind-the-scenes stories from the filming of "Gunche."
On the 8th, the YouTube channel Channel Fullmoon posted a video titled "The Gunche team aboard the Yeoniverse and Wagle." That day, the people who visited PD Na Young-seok were director Yeon Sang-ho of the film "Gunche" and actors Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Changwook, Shin Hyun-been, and Kim Shin-rock.
PD Na Young-seok asked Jun Ji-hyun, returning to the screen after 10 years, if there was a special reason she chose Yeon Sang-ho's "Gunche." Jun Ji-hyun recalled their first meeting when she had a meeting with director Yeon Sang-ho and asked, "Do you remember when I said, 'This is how a movie script should be'?"
But director Yeon Sang-ho said he did not remember it at all, which made people laugh. He said the reason was, "Actually, I was very nervous. It was the first time I met Ms. Jun Ji-hyun, and I was startled. Just being together was an unbearable moment."
Koo Kyo-hwan added, "There were days when he took me along. Even when it wasn't on my schedule." Director Yeon Sang-ho confessed, "On the second day I was to meet actress Jun Ji-hyun, I was so nervous about going alone that I told Koo Kyo-hwan, 'Come with me and help.'"
That day, after successfully finishing the meeting with Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan and director Yeon Sang-ho even had an after-party. Jun Ji-hyun said she accepted the casting because "it was a lean, no-frills script, and it was the kind of film I wanted to see."
Meanwhile, "Gunche" is a film in which survivors trapped in a building sealed off by a mysterious outbreak confront infected people who evolve into unpredictable forms. It was officially invited to the midnight screening section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival, drawing intense interest even before its release.
