When the voice of the late Ahn Sung-ki rang out, the Baeksang Arts Awards ceremony became a sea of tears.
On the 8th, the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci was held at COEX D Hall in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, hosted by Shin Dong-yeob, Suzy and Park Bo Gum.
The Baeksang Arts Awards, established in 1965 to promote the development of Korean popular culture and boost the morale of artists, marked its 62nd year this year. In particular, this year, as it is the 60th anniversary of Korean musical theater, a musical sector was newly established, and along with broadcasting, film and theater it brought together all areas of popular culture arts, breaking down boundaries between genres and becoming a festival encompassing all fields of K-content.
During the second part of the ceremony, Suzy, emphasizing Parents' Day, said, "There were parents of popular culture. Those who quietly pushed us on, because those people existed we were able to take the first step onto the treacherous road called art with a somewhat less fearful heart. Last year we had to bid farewell with aching hearts to the scene of a beautiful era coming to an end. The art they left behind has not ended. Baeksang wants to shout it loudly. Thinking about, feeling and chewing over the path of art engraved in our bones, we will carry it on to the next generation, and to the next, and on to eternity."
Director Lee Byung-woo then performed the OST from "My Most Beautiful Week" and Yoo Yeon-seok sang. In the process, when Ahn Sung-ki's voice saying, "I'm me, you haven't forgotten my faces, have you?" rang out, the eyes of the attending actors reddened.
When the faces of the late Lee Soon-jae, the late Jeon Yu-seong and the late Ahn Sung-ki, called the "parents of popular culture," appeared on the screen one after another, actors showed tears as if longing. In particular, the late Ahn Sung-ki's movie line, "There are almost no stars that shine alone. They all reflect the light they receive," moved many hearts.
