Actress Mun Ka-young received the honor of winning for her screen debut.
On the 8th at COEX Hall D in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci was held, hosted by Shin Dong-yeob, Suzy and Park Bo Gum.
Established in 1965 to promote the development of Korean popular culture and arts and to boost artists' morale, the Baeksang Arts Awards marked its 62nd year. In particular, this year, as it is the 60th anniversary of Korean musicals, a musical institutional sector was newly created, bringing together all areas of popular culture and arts along with broadcasting, film and theater, breaking down boundaries between genres and becoming a festival that encompasses all fields of K-content.
The actress best actress award, contested by Lee Hae young (The Old Woman with the Knife), Son Ye-jin (No Other Choice), Mun Ka-young (Once We Were Us) and Ko A Sung (Pavane), went to Mun Ka-young for her screen debut Once We Were Us.
First, Mun Ka-young said, "I am grateful. There are so many people who come to mind," and expressed gratitude to the film staff, company members and fellow actors. In particular, Mun Ka-young mentioned Koo Kyo-hwan and said, "Like the saying that we acted for each other even in unseen moments, this award also belongs to senior Koo Kyo-hwan. I want to say thank you for being my strong safeguard."
Mun Ka-young said, "I wish thanks and peace to all the connections who crossed paths with me and made who I am today. This year marks exactly the 20th anniversary, and I will continue to work hard so I can grow proudly in the future."
She added, "Thanks to the audiences who loved the film, I received many confessions that they would give their hearts from the beginning of this year. I will gather those hearts well and live while portraying countless lives and characters going forward."
