Musical actor Kim Junsu made a candid remark.
On the 8th, the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci was held at COEX Hall D in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, hosted by Shin Dong-yeob, Suzy and Park Bo Gum.
The Baeksang Arts Awards, established in 1965 to promote the development of Korean popular culture and arts and to boost artists' morale, celebrated its 62nd edition this year. Especially this year, marking the 60th anniversary of Korean musical theater, a musical institutional sector was newly established, and together with broadcasting·film·theater it reunited all areas of popular culture arts into one, breaking down boundaries between genres and becoming a festival that encompasses all fields of K-content.
The winner of the inaugural musical institutional sector's prestigious acting award was Kim Junsu, who starred in Beetlejuice. Kim Junsu received the trophy among strong contenders including Hong Kwang-ho, Yuria, Park Eun-tae and Min Kyung-ah.
Kim Junsu said he had not prepared what to say because he really did not expect to receive it and that it was a big deal. He added that he used to watch the Baeksang Arts Awards only on TV and was very grateful that he could attend this year because the musical institutional sector was newly established, that he was happy just to be with so many stars and meant to enjoy himself, and that it was a great honor to receive an award as well.
Kim Junsu added that he feels the weight of the award, that he thinks it is given as encouragement to work harder because he is so happy, and that he will work harder. He said that if he has a wish, he would like men and women to receive separate awards from next year. He promised to continue to give good acting and singing so he can work diligently as a musical actor without shame.
