Actors Yoo Seung-mok and Lim Soojung received the honor of winning the Baeksang Arts Awards.
On the 8th, the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci was held at COEX D Hall in Gangnam District, Seoul, hosted by Shin Dong-yeob, Suzy and Park Bo Gum.
The Baeksang Arts Awards, established in 1965 to promote the development of Korean popular culture and arts and to boost the morale of artists, marked its 62nd year this year. In particular, as this year marks the 60th anniversary of Korean musical theater, a musical institutional sector was newly established, bringing together all areas of popular culture and the arts alongside broadcasting, film and theater, breaking down boundaries between genres and reinventing the festival to encompass all fields of K-content.
Nominees for best supporting actor in the broadcasting institutional sector included Jin Sun-kyu (Aema), Jang Seung-jo (As You Stood By), Yoo Jae-myung (Love Me), Yoo Seung-mok (The story of Manager Kim who lives in Seoul and works at a large company), and Kim Gun-woo (You and Everything Else). Among them, the trophy went to Yoo Seung-mok.
Yoo Seung-mok, who expressed his joy at winning the award by hugging Ryu Seung-ryong and Myung Se-bin, said, "Naksu, what is this. This is the first time I have been nominated across all award shows. Thank you for giving me such a precious award. When I played Baek Sang-moo, I wanted to show not a simple villain but the friendship and relationship built from living alongside Manager Kim, and the humane side that, although cherished, must be pushed aside in reality. I thank the production team, staff and actors who made such a good work."
He added, "Thanks, Seung-ryong hyung," and said, "I won't get cocky because I got this award, so keep calling me. Finally, I thank my wife who has silently watched over me so I could act despite all the hardships until now. This award is yours."
Competing for best supporting actress in the broadcasting institutional sector were Ha Yoon-Kyung (Undercover Miss Hong), Lim Soojung (Pine: Country Bumpkins), Lee E-dam (Lady Dua), Won Mi-kyung (Our Unwritten Seoul), and Myung Se-bin (The story of Manager Kim who lives in Seoul and works at a large company), among others, and the trophy was claimed by Lim Soojung.
Lim Soojung said, "I didn't know I would receive an award, so I'm a bit dizzy right now. I'm grateful," and added, "The character I played in Pine: Country Bumpkins was a very new challenge for me, and I thank the director who encouraged me to do well. All the actors who appeared gave truly great performances, and I thank Ryu Seung-ryong for leading them."
Lim Soojung said, "My steps were not light today. It has been four months since my mother became a star in the sky, and as time passes, the words I couldn't say because I was busy have settled in my heart and the sorrow deepens. I was going through days when my world briefly stopped, but receiving this award feels like my mother cheering me on not to stay still and to move forward. I thank everyone."
