In episode 1 of SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama "My Royal Nemesis," which premiered on the 8th, Kang Dan-sim (played by Lim Ji-yeon) is shown collapsing after drinking poison.
That day Kang Dan-sim was given poison by the king. When she went outside and saw the gathered courtiers, she said, "Did you come to watch because you're excited? When I die, aren't you the sort to at least give a sword dance as a farewell? You've mobbed around like a pack of dogs. They say all good things last only a short time in life," she said.
Refusing the poison, she shouted, "Where would I go? Do you think I will quietly step aside? I struggled to protect myself in the palace, where they constantly sought my neck. If that is a sin, then all of you here are sinners too."
She added, "Go and tell His Majesty. The rusty sword has something to say. Until then I will not touch even a sip," but the poison was handed to her repeatedly.
Eventually forced to drink the poison, Kang Dan-sim coughed up blood and collapsed. At the same time, dark clouds gathered, frost fell, and a total solar eclipse occurred in the sky. Kang Dan-sim closed her eyes, saying, "So this is how I go. Maybe this is for me..."
